Hi, my name is Allie, aka hutchynstarsk on LJ. I write gen fanfiction in the buddy genre.
I (obviously) write Starsky and Hutch stories. Click here for my latest stories. Or here for my website. Also, I help run this comm: Starsky and Hutch's Home for Orphans
Thank you so much to everyone who voted for me in the Paula Wilshe Award 2011! :)
I also write:
CI5: The Professionals stories
Alias Smith and Jones stories
Hawaii 5-0 stories
This is my FF.net account.
Here's my AO3 account. (I'm trying to update it, but I don't have nearly all my stories there right now.)
I love the concept of "romantic friendship." I think some of my stories fall into that category.
Also I now have an original fiction penname, Bailey Montagne here. :D
Note: I also have mild Asperger's syndrome. That means sometimes it's harder for me to pick up on certain communication cues or interact with people. Actually I'm doing well and have learned a lot lately.
♥

If you've friended me, thank you! :) It's great that you want to watch my journal. You're quite welcome here. Also I love comments, and getting to know people, so please feel free to say 'hi!'
If I don't friend you back immediately, it's nothing personal, nothing against you. I talk about personal things sometimes in 'friends-only' entries.
I probably won't add you back until I get to know you.....

Last night and this morning, I was re-reading the Pros story that I turned into original fiction and sent to a publisher. It's 60,000 words plus, and fantasy.
And I still love the story. I see some flaws with it, and I don't know if they'll accept it, but I still love it, "warts and all." :)
HOWEVER...! I still see things that remind me of Bodie & Doyle occasionally in the two main characters.
It startles me each time because I really felt like I changed them so much it was only right to make them original characters. That was a relief, because then I could write exactly what I wanted instead of worrying that they weren't enough like B&D.

that new USA Network series? I give it a big thumbs up. :D An 'Odd Couple' bickering buddy cop show with a lot of humor, slick writing, and great characters. :D
Check out Wes and Travis on Friday nights if you get that channel! :D

Shoutout for
velyrhorde's awesome new cover art!!

And possibly I'm getting influenced by you, because I'm in the mood to write original fiction revolving around something old-West-ish. I'm thinking the Wagon Train, not outlaws... but I don't really know about the Old West except from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Alias Smith and Jones (dubious lessons at best!!), the occasional fiction book, and the shows my brother used to watch (spaghetti westerns and TV specials about guns & outlaws).

Made my meatloaf for my parents and siblings. It turned out well. I never measure if I can help it and follow recipes more as a guideline, adding different spices, etc., according to what I think. It turned out really well today. I think horseradish and bits of green pepper added great flavor.
If you ever need a stove don't buy Maytag! My mom got a new Maytag stove only a few months ago and it really works poorly. The burner knobs won't turn once the oven is hot. They won't fix it for her, either. It makes cooking difficult.

Today my mom and I went to market. It's a local, once-a-week market with lots of small stands. You can get awesome fruit and vegetables at some of the stands, especially our favorite one that's always busy. It's run by these nice Mennonite ladies... though sometimes you see Amish boys working there stacking the veg, with their suspenders and blond hair. They're always cute, I'm not sure why. I suppose there must be ugly Amish people in the world.
Anyway the prices at this stand are great, and there are always lots of fresh things. All kinds of people shop there. Today I saw two Asian women, some young mothers, and older couples... and I was actually not trying to catalog all their customers, just to find good things to buy. We got a watermelon and it was heavy.
Also bought hamburger from a butcher's stall. I like to make meatloaf with it. It's always very fresh and not so greasy as some hamburger. I do feel better about getting somewhat local things whenever possible.
I'm still enjoying "Riptide" quite a lot! :D I love how kind the characters are. They're just very nice people. They welcome Murray (another kind character) into their lives, and are always helping people who need it, and even the old girlfriend we meet in one episode has only nice things to say about them.
I probably won't be on much this weekend but I hope you all have a great one! :D

Takes place after Season 2, Episode 22. Spoilers.
Genre: Friendship; grief; aftermath of a relationship
Characters: Kono, Chin
5,500 words
Note: This is my take on Kono, quite possibly not canon in some ways (or in ways that will yet appear). Please do feel free to gently point out any canon errors you see so I can learn from it. :) This is my first Kono fic and I’m a little nervous because she’s my favorite character! (I also love the relationship between Chin and Kono. Wish I had a cousin half as wonderful!)

Note: do not read if you think this is the best show ever and everyone should love it! I'm honest about the things I thought were goofy. Even though I did ultimately enjoy it a lot. :)
Condensed version: a lot of fun, but sometimes in unintended ways! Quite mediocre in many ways, but the bromance is fun... :D

* cleaned a messy corner of my bedroom. It still doesn't look that great but now there's more room. I have three or four more spots to clean yet, with any luck.
* did a lot of laundry (and should be folding some clothes now--both to keep and to give away!)
* watched Sherlock last night by myself, but didn't understand all of it. Will need to rewatch. :) (And Watson totally said Sherlock has Asperger's! He's lucky Holmes didn't hear him. He'd have argued he didn't just for the heck of it!!)
* started watching Riptide. I'll post another entry about it. :-)
* I wrote a Hawaii 5-0 story about Kono and Chin. ♥ I meant to write it for the Bromance challenge but it's not long enough and it's episode related, so I should post as soon as I can.

If you've been wanting to remove me from your LJ F-list...
Obviously I enjoy having you guys here, but if my entries are getting too long (or I've forgotten LJ cuts once too often--*gulp*!), or for some other reason just not quite what you want to scroll past, go ahead.
You can comment and let me know, if you want. I don't have a Paid account, so I won't receive notification of being taken off your list, but I'll see it eventually when I check my things. Probably. :)
I usually try to contact people directly when I feel the need to remove them, because of changing interests, etc. But I know it can be difficult so ... this is your excuse, if you've been wanting one.
Go ahead. I'll try not to take it personally since I do understand that things change and sometimes people need space.

I love this series by Patrick O'Brian SO much! I should probably write a squeeing post about them eventually. :)
I don't do fandom for these stories, but I just L O V E D these stories by Diane_C! :D
She captures the voice of the author, the mood of the books, and the very sweet, gentle friendship between the two vastly different characters.

This last one, At Dawn, is my favorite. It's funny, sweet, warm, and has one of Stephen's little animal friends. It also lets the two characters talk about something important and feels in character. :D

So, I'm watching a lot of TV lately! :o It's a nice distraction, especially when I'm feeling 'down.'
I watched an episode of Rizzoli and Isles, giving it another try. This one wasn't too gruesome and it did have some friendship stuff in it. :-D
I watched an episode of NCIS: LA, but only because it was a crossover with Hawaii 5-0. I really don't like that show anymore, even though it has a few good points. The things in it that irritate me outweigh them for the most part.
I watched a few minutes of a new cop show called NYC 22, about new police officers learning on the job, and it looks quite good. :)
I'm excited to see the upcoming premiere of "Common Law" on May 11, on USA Network. I tend to like the shows they come up with, and the previews look VERY funny and fun, about police partners who argue constantly, so their boss sends them to counselling(!). It looks really fun, with hints of the best buddy shows plus an abrasive quality that can lend humor and conflicts to work out.
I still love "Fringe." Especially Walter, though I'm now fond of basically all the characters. I think it's wonderful that the show is complicated and has ongoing plots, yet is something that I can follow having never seen the earlier seasons.
For summer DVD entertainment, I've ordered "Riptide: season 1" and all of "Due South." They were a good price. I hope they'll be fun enough to be a good distraction on really hot days.
Also finished another S&H AU recently, and am trying to do some more Pros writing (Big Bang and possibly other). :-)
